Award Interpretation
Interpreting awards and other industrial relations instruments is a complex and time consuming task,
prone to error. Awards vary by State, industry and profession meaning that a business can have many
awards with which it must comply. This complexity means that interpretation can be very challenging.
Nevertheless, businesses are required to correctly interpret the provisions of each award each time an
employee is paid. We can guide you through the maze of complexity to ensure your pays are calculated accurately.
What is it?
Our Award Interpreter software allows us to model in the rules associated with one or more
industrial relations instruments including Federal and State awards, employment contracts, enterprise
bargaining agreements and collective agreements.
We can quickly model payroll outcomes to determine gross costs for roster patterns, individual employees
or groups of employees.
Our Award Interpreter is an unparalleled tool in the market.
We can also provide the additional service of monitoring amendments to awards as they occur as well as
alerting and providing updates to you automatically.
Our Approach
In collaboration with you, we:
Configure rule sets containing the conditions of multiple industrial relations instruments.
Create as many scenarios as are required to calculate against each of those instruments.
Scenarios are based on:
- full time, part time and casual employee types;
- day work, weekend, night shifts and other time bands;
- allowances, penalties and loadings;
- age, role, pay level and supported wage system; and
- overtime, higher duties and cross midnight work.
Process the scenarios through the award interpreter which calculates all the associated
pay elements for each employee profile or the selected scenarios in accordance with the rule sets created.
Provide models, reports and other formats as required of the results produced.
